  • On the Property Registration - Required Field Section; you are required to answer three questions regarding General Public, Law Enforcement, and Product Manufacturer contact information access regarding the particular registered item. By answering either Yes or No to any of these three questions determines who can or cannot obtain your contact information during a serial number search.
  • General Public Search Access: In the event that the particular item that is being registered is ever lost or stolen, this service allows anyone that may have found this item to visit the nsnr.com home page, enter the serial number found on the item in the Lost & Found Serial Number Search Box located at the lower left hand side of the home page.
  • If you have answered Yes to the question regarding General Public Access and you have marked the "Item Missing" in your nsnr.com account, and the matching serial number is entered into the field, then only your E-Mail Address, Property Information and any uploaded Photos or Images will be displayed to the General Public. This feature enables the person who recovers your property to contact you. Your name, address, and phone numbers that you provide are not displayed during a General Public Search.

  • The product manufacturer must fill out the Factory Recall Consumer Contact Application (link on home page).
  • When filling out the on-line form, the manufacturer must provide all identification numbers (i.e. part number, and model number) along with the serial numbers of the product that needs to be recalled.
  • Our staff at National Serial Number Registry reviews the application and verifies all the information provided. We then perform a search of our records to see how many product registrations meet the criteria in our system.
  • A member of our staff contacts the product manufacturer or authorized distributor requesting the contact list, and we inform them of the number of registered owners that we have listed in our system (allowing to be contacted by the manufacturer). If the manufacturer wishes to obtain this list, National Serial Number Registry requires the product manufacturer or authorized distributor to sign a legal agreement which prohibits them from using this contact list for any purpose other than a factory recall.
  • National Serial Number Registry is very adamant about using the Factory Recall Consumer Contact List that we provide for the sole purpose of a factory recall. National Serial Number Registry has several systems in place to ensure the proper use of this list by the manufacturer or authorized distributor.
