National Serial Number Registry has developed this system to help all Law Enforcement Agencies in the process of recovering lost or stolen property, and in the process of returning the recovered property to the rightful owner / property crime victim. This efficient, effective system is free of charge with unlimited 24 hour access to all Law Enforcement Agencies and their officers.

This free service assigns "Reference of Ownership" of property to the property owners. A consumer or business owner creates an account with National Serial Number Registry, provides their name and contact information, and registers any personal or company property. Our registration page requires the property owner to list the property name and serial number. Other optional information that can be provided is all other identification numbers such as model numbers, part numbers, etc., and the ability to upload up to three photos or images of the property being registered.

In the photo upload section we suggest that a photo of the actual property is included. We also suggest a scanned image of the receipt or invoice of purchase (if available), or a photo of the "data tag" (if possible). Please click on the How it Works tab for more details. All steps in the registration process are designed for the purpose simplifying the identification process and establishing a good reference of ownership.

If a particular lost or stolen item is recovered by an officer, and this item is registered with nsnr.com, the process to obtain the contact information of its' rightful owner is now quite simple. An officer of a Law Enforcement Agency that has established an access account with nsnr.com simply logs onto our website with an authorized user name and password. This will instantly access the "Law Enforcement Serial Number Search" page. Enter the serial number located on the recovered property. If the property is in fact registered with our service, and the property owner has authorized us to release their contact information to Law Enforcement, then the officer will be instantly provided with the property owner contact information along with all the identification information and any photos & images (if provided).

The process for your agency or department to join our service is quite simple:

• An authorized representative of your department fills out a simple application form on the "Law Enforcement Sign-up Page". (If department policy permits, any sworn officer can sign up on behalf of the entire department or agency.)
• For security reasons, a member of our staff at National Serial Number Registry will verify the accuracy of the information provided. (Usually within 2 business days.)
• Once this process is complete and all information is verified to be true and correct, your account will be activated.
• A member of our staff will notify your department of the account activation.

With the approved user name and password for your department, you are now free to login at any time to perform an unlimited number of serial number searches. There are no hidden fees and we do not distrtibute your contact information for advertisement and solicitation purposes. All that we ask is that if your department policy permits, that you recommend our service to the community and other law enforcement agencies.
